Christmas Around the East Coast

Image
We spent the winter break traveling all over the East Coast to visit family. We started in PA with my parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. First stop - Dulles Smithsonian museum on our way north, and then the train museum with Nana and Papa! Papa got out his old locomotives and Parker had a great time helping him! Then we headed home to spend Christmas Eve in our own beds. The kids had a fun Christmas morning before we packed up and headed to the airport. New riding helmet, gloves, chaps and boots! Next stop - Nashville! We got to spend time with Eric's parents, brother's family, and aunts, uncles and cousins. We also got to see some of his extended family over dinner. Then we took a quick day trip down to Alabama to visit Grandma Camilla! She had a great time showing off her house and town to the kids, as this was their first time there! Another successful holiday trip - lots of family, friends

Fargo Bound!

Image
Fargo?? North Dakota?? Yep - that's the one! JMU had the semi-final playoff game against reigning 5-time champion North Dakota State. Lucky for us,  JMU was smart and chartered at 747 from the valley straight to Fargo. We grabbed two tickets and hopped on board the party plane with a bunch of our fellow Dukes. And what a trip it was! Despite the temperatures (-4) and the snow, we had a wonderful 8 hours there and met some of the nicest people ever. Eric was flying straight from NJ to meet us there (and would then fly home with us) so he missed some of the pre-game excitement. The ND fans were so welcoming and genuinely excited to host us there - they bought us drinks, chatted about football, and wished us safe travels. A guy in the stands even passed out ear plugs to everyone (their indoor stadium is well-known for being loud).  Eric's flight was delayed several times but he made it to his seat 5 minutes before kickoff. Holiday Program 2016

Image
The kids had their holiday program at school last week and were adorable as usual! The play was based on winter/Christmas stories and books. I am so proud of them for learning their songs, and especially proud of Parker for making it through his first big stage performance! See videos below of their songs. Merry Christmas!

Hunting Camp for the Whole Family

Image
This year was the first year that the whole family went to hunting camp at the same time! The kids had such a great time being with Papa and enjoying the experiences of camp life. Although the weather was not ideal, they still got to hike in the woods, roast marshmallows, and play in the creek.  Parker ended up staying the whole week with Eric, while Ainsley and I went back to school on Thursday. He had a great time hiking the property lines to put up posters with Daddy. Eric got a nice 8-point on Monday and the kids were happy that they got to be there for it. Although I didn't see anything to shoot, we all had a great time as usual. Thanks to Papa for always making this a special trip for us! Watching Mike grill steak for dinner. Working on her homework journal  A hunting camp tradition - playing card games!  What a nice deer! Saw some nice turkeys while sitting in my ground blind. Happy kids, happy Papa! Thanksgiving Fun 2016

Image
Grandma and Grandaddy Williams came to visit for Thanksgiving this year! We had some great time together at the house. Grandaddy took the kids to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts for one afternoon and they had a great time experiencing the museum. We also went and picked out our Christmas tree and decorated it - probably the earliest we've ever gotten it up!  Next stop - hunting camp! There's my cute little turkey in the costume he made at school. And here he was singing in the Thanksgiving Program at school.  Daddy has already started growing his beard for hunting camp. Nightly storytime with Grandma  Three happy dogs - luckily Dixie and Blue didn't annoy Charlie too much! They had a great time coloring the Thanksgiving tablecloth.  We picked a good tree! Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
