Apology and Big Changes

So yes, gentle reader, I owe you an apology. I know it's been over a month since I posted on my blog and we've had so much going on to update you about. I'm sure you've been awake at night wondering when I'm going to post something. Let's start at the very beginning (sung as I typed this in my best Julie Andrews voice):

Five Weeks Ago
We moved! In a weekend of chaos we managed to pack up our old house on Saturday and Sunday, sell the old house on Monday, buy the new house and move in on Tuesday, and then drive to Kiawah Island, SC on Wednesday.  Did I mention that we're never ever ever getting back together? Oops - I mean, we're never ever ever moving again. Well, at least not until I've lost my memory of all things related to this move.

So we moved into our new house and then immediately went to the beach. We'd already planned this annual trip long before we sold the house, and it seemed like the perfect opportunity to relax for a few days with friends and not think about anything house-related. Although we returned home to a house still completely in boxes, the trip was definitely worth it.  Some highlights:

Colin (left) and Parker (right) making dinner.
Parker on the beach for the first time since he was 4 months old!
He wasn't quite sure about the whole sand thing.
Fun time at the water park.
It's amazing how much changes over a year! This picture was taken last year...
And now an updated photo this year!
Let's go!!!
 Celebrating Daddy's birthday.
 First bike ride for Parker.
 Happy Birthday Daddy!
 Me and my little man.
Trying to wrestle 8 children into 1 photo.
 Priceless.

Special thanks to Tim and Caroline (and Mr. and Mrs. Ashbaugh) who have welcomed us into their beautiful beach home for the 5th year in a row!

Four Weeks Ago
After returning from Kiawah we spent a week back at work (and every free minute unpacking boxes). We managed to get quite a bit done. I actually found our dishes and a good chunk of the kids toys. We were immediately rewarded with our new home purchase when the kids spent an hour together in their playroom while I unpacked the kitchen.

In the process of unpacking and getting settled, we discovered that there were a few things missing. Like electrical outlets. The basement wasn't wired to code and there are entire rooms with no electrical outlets.   Oh, and the dishwasher broke. I had to call a repair man not once, but twice, to come fix it. I'm still not entirely convinced that it's running properly. But more on that later...

Three Weeks Ago
After actually residing in the house for a full week, it was time to leave again. This time we drove back to South Carolina, but to Pawley's Island to spend a week with Eric's family. We make this trip every other year and enjoy a week at the beach with Skip and Reva, Scott (Eric's brother), Kelli, and their 3 kids (Maddie - 14, Caleb - 11, and Carolina - 5). Although the weather at the beginning of the week was a little sketchy, it cleared up by mid-week and we had a fantastic time. By the end of the week Parker had gotten over his fear of sand and was happily wading around in the waves and chasing girls on the beach. I'm going to have to keep an eye on this one....

Guitar lessons with Grandaddy

 Come ON!!

 Best Friends (and Cousins)

Ainsley (on the floor) was quite impressed with Grandaddy's magic show.

 Like father, like son.

 Beach bum.

 Happy 4th of July!

 Happy Grandparents!

 Fun Family Foto

 The whole Bowlin/Williams Family!

 Ready to watch the parade.

Someone was a little scared of all the parade floats.

 Grandaddy gives the pinata rules.

Watching softball-player Maddie beat open the pinata!

Ainsley's turn at the pinata.

 Ice cream girl!

 "Can I play too?"

 My little snuggle monkey.

So glad the kids can all have fun together!

Other highlights from the week include a visit to the Myrtle Beach Aquarium (and Parker throwing his cup over a balcony and hitting a woman in the head). Ainsley was also fascinated by a mermaid show. Fireworks on the beach, a ghost-hunting trip to a local haunted cemetery, boogie-boarding, collecting seashells... so many wonderful memories.

To be continued...
