Captain Adorable

Unfortunately Parker is a stereotypical second child. We have dozens of videos of Ainsley as a baby - smiling, crawling, eating, walking, pulling on Duke, - just about anything and everything. Poor Parker has very few mementos (aside from this blog) to document his various accomplishments of babyhood. But every once in a while I manage to grab my (lifesaving) iPhone and snap a video of him doing something memorable, before Ainsley tries to steal the spotlight again. Here he is, Captain Adorable, playing peekaboo with his shirt at dinnertime.

Momming Hard Day 9... until the end of time

Things were rolling along quite nicely yesterday (well, not really but let's not get caught up in subtraction regrouping lessons).  We were getting ourselves set up for success on this temporary schedule. We were learning things and reading things and writing things and then... the bottom dropped out. The governor announced all schools are closed for the rest of the year.  I'm sure all the other parents watching the news conference had the same physical reaction that I did. I felt like I'd been punched in the gut. Tears, anger, disbelief... my poor children. ALL these poor children. When they left for spring break they didn't realize it would be the last time they'd see their friends. The last time they'd see their teachers. Ainsley, in particular, is taking it the hardest. She's missing her last Lower School play. Her last Grandparents Day show.  No field day.  No fifth grade graduation. No class graduation party. She is heartbroken. The next time she sets

Finishing up in California

A few finishing touches before wrapp ing up my trip to San Francisco. My final presentation went well, and I had a beautiful final day to spend in the city. Fisherman's Wharf My kind of place!  . One final visit to the sea lions Golden Gate Bridge One more glass of great California wine. My trip home was a little more stressful than I had hoped. Due to mechanical problems with the plane, I was re-routed and ended up spending a good part of the day and night either on a plane or in an airport. However things worked out and I made it safely home!

Parties, parties, parties!

We returned from Switzerland and immediately launched into several weeks of parties. It's been a busy but fun month, and we've enjoyed spending time with so many old (and new) friends!  First was our annual winter party, which was our first opportunity to break in the new bar with a large group. Even though this is our winter party, the temperatures soared into the sixties! We set up cornhole on the back patio and kept the doors open all night. It was a perfect evening!  Testing out the new beer pong table! Some winter cornhole!  Some of my favorite gals! Me and my favorite guy!  My DH even put on a little show (somehow there were people at the party who weren't aware of his clown past, so he had to prove his skills).  Some posing with the antlers.
